TWO HARBOURS WALK

Two-HarboursTHE TWO HARBOURS WALK is a magnificent walk along the coastline linking Granny's Pool with the Port.

Granny's Pool was the original "harbour" in St Francis Bay and home of the NSRI for many years. They and others used to launch their boats from the slipway.

The walk starts at the HERITAGE ECO CENTRE (the old NSRI boathouse) and ends at the Port Parking area. Hence the name TWO HARBOURS WALK.

The views are spectacular as one looks over the bay towards the mountains in the distance.
The rocky coastline is magnificent and home to the Cape Clawless Otter.

Numerous birds can be spotted, including the African Black Oystercatcher, Cape Gannet, Kelp Gull and Cormorants.

Look out for Humpback, Common and Bottlenose dolphins in the bay.

Two-HarboursThe most common whales to visit the bay are Humpback and Southern Right during the months of June/July and Oct/ Nov.

If you do the walk on a Wednesday afternoon or on a Saturday morning pop into the Heritage Eco Centre and study the freshly picked flowering indigenous plants to help you identify the local flora you will see on the trail.

Heritage Centre opening times: Wednesday 14h30 – 16h30 and Saturday 10.30 – 12.30

One needs to be agile as there are some sections where one has to walk over rocks and up and down steep steps.

Two-HarboursIf you are not wishing to walk the full length of the trail then there are a number of places where you can join the path.

Ask a friend to drop you off at the car Park in ESMARELDA ROAD and leave your car at your destination. (BLUE MAP parking lot between Erf 1298 and 1214)

TOM BROWN BOULEVARD
(Blue map there is a public walk way between Erf 1522 & 1523).

If you do not wish to go through the Port then get dropped off or collected in AVERY CLOSE .
(Blue map there is a public walk way between erf 1734 & 1735)

*Blue maps are available at any Estate Agents office, Tourist office or the Heritage Centre

TIME:
